Welcome to the electronic home of the Maryland State Music Teachers Association. Our roster includes over 500 members who are located throughout Maryland, Washington DC, Northern Virginia, Delaware, and other localities.

The MSMTA is renowned for its outstanding calendar of student activities, including competitions, festivals, recitals, and examinations.


Updates At a Glance:

The annual MSMTA Conference is scheduled to be held on Saturday, September 27th at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Online registration is preferred, but a printed registration is available.

The date and repertoire for the 2015 Brown Piano Concerto Competition has been set.
Dates : Jan. 17 & 18, 2015 at Howard Community College

Required repertoire:
Junior 1 (up to 5th grade): Alexander Peskanov, Concerto for piano and strings No.1.
Music available here.
Junior 2 (up to 8th grade): J.S. Bach Concerto in F minor, BWV 1056 (International ed.)
Intermediate (up to 10th grade): J.S. Bach Concerto in G minor, BWV 1058 (International ed.)
Senior (up to 12th grade): Mendelssohn Concerto in G minor, op.25 (Schirmer ed.)
