The M
usic Teachers
Association of
Bowie was founded in 1968. Its initial purposes were to share ideas about teaching music, to help develop an awareness of music within the community and to provide opportunities for teachers to perform. From the original 13 charter members the organization has grown to a group of more than 40 active members from the Bowie-Crofton area as well as from Annapolis, Laurel, Calvert County and the Eastern Shore. Members are involved in the teaching of piano, organ, voice, harp, flute, marimba, composition, music theory and music therapy.
